Snow Update
Craing carpools with me to work, and he tried to get to my house this morning only to find himself mired in a snow bank. He hoofed it the last 100 yards to my house, and worked from my house until around Noonish.
We were walking to his car to see if we could get it out of the snowbank when we came across a guy that was plowing the roadway. I offered him $60 to dig out our drive way, an he gladly took it. Once he plowed his way to our house, he unburied our driveway. That’s a goo thing. It would have taken me days to dig the damn thing out.
We finally got Craing’s car unstuck with the help of another man that had a backhoe on his tractor. If it wasn’t for him, Craing would still be stuck. We finally got Craing’s car down the slope, and in a safer place (after almost getting it stuck a second time.)
There is still one snow bank between us and the main road that hasn’t been cleared just yet. I’m not sure when the road crews will get around to clearing this part of the roadway. I have a party that I’m going to with Fred tonight, and I’m not sure I’ll be able to get out. I hope that I can make it out of here before the end of the day. I’m starting to get some serious cabin fever after spending 2 straight days stuck indoors.
Breckenridge Summary
I typed some of this as it happened, some of it the next day, and some of it a day or three after the events happened. Details are sketchy in some places, and very precise in others. There are also probably quite a few things that my drink addled mind just couldn’t remember. I had a blast, and I think everyone else did too…. Here’s what happened to us while at the cabin.
Thursday, October 19th, 2006
I got up at my usual time, did the usual morning things, finished packing, and threw some ice over the beer and food in the three coolers that I was taking with me to Breckenridge. My deodorant exploded on me in a final gasp of its existence, so I had to make a side trek to the grocery store to buy some more. This put me a little behind schedule, but I still made it to Jhianna’s and Kolvedic’s house before Bobo, Jasmine, and Craing. We hung out for a bit, then got on the road to Breckenridge. The weather was nice, so we chose to take highway 285 instead of interstate 70 because the scenery is nicer.
The road trip was pretty uneventful. There were some great shots of the mountains, and I took some photos (yes, while driving) of the scenery as we went. At one point we passed four baby elk along the side of the road, and they didn’t seem one bit concerned about the cars zooming past them a few feet away. We finally made it into Breckenridge, and got to the cabin. The cabin had a steep uphill driveway, and due to the snow, I was unable to make my way up the driveway. Fortunately, the cabin owners had built a turn-out, so that people like me could park off of the side of the roadway.
We unpacked and got settled in. Bobo went to work shoveling the walkways to clear all of the snow out. He did an awesome job, and no one managed to slip and hurt themselves. After unpacking, we decided to head into town to get some food, so we headed to the Breckenridge Brewery to get some burgers and beer. The place smelled like brewing beer (mainly hops), and I love that smell. I was a happy camper. With our bellies full of beef, we piled back into the cars. While jumping into the back of Kolvedic’s Defender, I managed to smash my knee into the door latch, and I think my response was, “Son of a whore!!!” It hurt so bad, that I had to lay there for a few minutes to catch my breath while Kolvedic laughed at me because he had done the same thing many times. My knee hurt a little bit for the rest of the day, but it wasn’t too bad.
When we got back to the cabin, the repeated trips up and down the drive had cleared away enough of the snow to make it possible for me to get my car off of the road. I barely made it, but I finally got into the driveway where I could pull off to the side and park my car out of the way. I just hope that Spice is able to get up the driveway when she arrives Friday night.
Once we were back at the cabin, we spent some time in a side house that had a fireplace, foosball table, some couches, and a pool table. We had a good time listening to Kolvedic’s iPod, shooting pool, and talking. It was good stuff. The night was getting colder, but it wasn’t too bad. We ended up getting enough alcohol into us to brave the cold, and get into the hot tub. We managed to pack eight of us into the hot tub. When Spice arrives on Friday, it’s going to be a tight squeeze to fit all nine of us into the hot tub. We may have to rotate around and take turns in the tub.
We spent another hour or so in the hot tub drinking our happy little heads off until we decided to head inside to dry off, warm up, and watch a movie. Ball-Check had just bought ‘Click’, so we opened that up, and started watching it. No one made it to the end of the movie. We all ended up retiring to bed at various stages through the movie. The movie wasn’t bad, but it had been a long day, and we were all ready to get to sleep.
Friday, October 20th, 2006
I woke up around 7:00 AM to the sound of an alarm going off. I ignored it because I knew it wasn’t mine. It went off again, then again. I finally decided to track it down, so I started wandering around to track down the sound. It turned off before I could find it. I decided that since I was up, I would just get out of bed and start the day. Craing, who I was sharing a room with, was awake when I got back to the room. He loaned me some shampoo, and I hopped into the shower. I guess Craing and I started waking people up with our showers and stomping around the cabin. Ball-Check and Kolvedic were soon up and cooking in the kitchen. There was no sign of Tasty, Jhianna, Bobo, or Jasmine just yet.
While writing this, I looked out the window and saw that it was snowing fairly heavily outside. I was glad that I had gotten my car off of the road when I did. I thought about waiting another day to let the snow melt off more, but that didn’t happen. We spent most of the day just hanging out. There was a game room attached to the house, and we spent quite a bit of time in there shooting pool, playing foosball, hanging out by the fire, and chatting. Craing has these two books that are filled with questions that all start with “If…” There are some pretty good questions in there, and not all of them are easy to answer. I don’t remember any of the questions, but they are all designed to allow friends to get to know each other better.
It was snowing pretty hard, and I was happy to be in the cabin rather than driving around in it. Spice was supposed to join us after she got off of work on Friday, but the weather was just too bad for her to come up. We talked to her several times on the phone to tell her how bad things were. We wanted her to join us, but we didn’t want her to run off of the road on the way up. Spice finally decided to stay home for the weekend. We missed her a great deal, but I was glad (in a way) that she didn’t come up because I would rather have her as a friend for years to come than go to a memorial service for her next week.
I don’t remember most of the details of the day because I didn’t write about it right away. Jhianna, Craing and I ended up in the hot tub for a couple of hours. We were mainly drinking water because we had been drinking all day long, and if we continued to drink in the hot tub, we’d be hurting the next day. I don’t remember what all we talked about, but we had a good time sitting out there picking each others’ brains during the night. It was good to hang out with my friends and just talk. It’ll be one of my best memories of the trip.
We finally got out of the hot tub, and Jhianna called it a night. Craing and I hung out for another 30 minutes or so on the couches talking about our D&D worlds. I learned quite a bit from him about the background of his world that I had been missing out on. I was glad we had the talk.
Saturday, October 21st, 2006
After getting six hours of sleep (Craing got three) we got up. We hung out for the morning before heading into town to get some chow. Ball-Check drove us into town to get some chow at the Breckenridge Brewery. I wasn’t feeling too good because of the heavy drinking and lack of sleep. Once I got some food into me, I started to feel much better. After eating, we walked up and down Main Street. There were some cool stores there, but nothing really caught my eye. I did manage to find some snacks for the dogs at a specialty store. Most of the other folks bought various shirts, hats, sunglasses and other stuff.
About the time my feet were starting to get cold and sore we reached the end of the shops, and walked the length of Main Street back to the Suburban. We ended up back at the cabin where we warmed up. We shot some more pool, hung out some more, and had a good time relaxing. It was going to be Jasmine’s birthday soon, and Jhianna had bought her some gag gifts. They were all funny and some were sexual in nature. It was good stuff, and we all had a laugh about the gifts.
After the gifts, some people hit the hot tub, and the rest of us stayed inside to play some drinking games. We started with with a plinko style game that was called Drinko with various shots of drinks in the bottom of the plinko setup. I had a shot of whiskey (eww!!) and something else, but I don’t remember what it was. We decided that mixing the various types of alcohol in our system would lead to some serious pukage. We ended up heading to the dining room table to play some 3-man. It’s a drinking game where people get very drunk, very fast. Poor Ball-Check ended up downing four beers in a matter of about twenty minutes. He was burping like you wouldn’t beleive. I felt sorry for him near the end of the night. We cleaned up the cabin a bit after the drinking game, and headed to bed. It was around 12:30 by the time I got to sleep. I had forgotten my meds the first two nights that we were in the cabin, but I had thrown my pill bottles on my pillow during the day. This night, I took my meds, and the meds combined with the booze knocked me out cold. I’m pretty sure that I had only been in bed for a few seconds before I was out.
Sunday, October 22nd, 2006
I slept in Sunday morning, and didn’t get up until 11:00. It was good to sleep in after getting up so early the three previous days. Jhianna, Craing, Ball-Check, and Kolvedic grabbed the plastic sleds from the garage and spent a good hour outside sliding down the hill. I got some good pictures of it. I thought about joining them, but I spent most of yesterday with cold, wet feet, so I decided to pass this time around. It really looked fun, but I was happier inside where it was nice and warm.
We didn’t do much of anything during the day. It was a lazy day of relaxation, TV, naps, and books. I spent most of the day just hanging out and watching TV. There was a “Dog Whisperer” marathon on one of the channels, and most everyone watched it all. I watched about four episodes, and the guy kept telling the owners of the dogs the same old stuff. It wasn’t new to me, and I got tired of the repetition. Craing, Ball-Check, Kolvedic, and I ended up in the game room at some point, and we played quite a few games of pool. It was lots of fun.
Sunday gave us the best weather of the weekend, but we were all too pooped from the previous days to go out and enjoy it. I tried to get some people to go to the hot tub with me, but no one seemed interested. I don’t really blame them. When the sun went down Sunday evening, the temperatures plummeted quite a bit. It would have been very cold out there during beer and water runs outside the tub.
Monday, October 23rd, 2006
Monday morning was very cold, and I was hesitant to get out of bed. However, I could hear people moving around and talking. I figured that they were cleaning up the place in preparation for leaving. I didn’t want to be a slouch, so I got dressed and headed downstairs. I was right. Everyone was very busy cleaning things up. I tried to help, but I seemed to be getting in the way. It was a 3-4 person job, and we already had 6 people working on it. I decided to head upstairs and pack my things. By the time I got most of my stuff to the car, Ball-Check, and Kolvedic were coming around the cabin with my coolers in tow. I snagged the two light ones from them, and let them double-team the heavier one.
Once we were all packed, I headed down the slippery driveway first. Everyone watched as I slid my sports car down the snowy slope. I managed to keep things under control just fine, and I made it down to the road. Once we were all on the road, I got a call from Craing telling me that we were going to Bubba Gumps one more time for lunch before going our separate ways. I hadn’t had a chance to pay for a single thing while on the trip, so I took this opportunity to pay part of my way for the trip.
We had a good lunch together, and that was the last of the trip. We all piled into our cars and went our own ways back home. It took me a little over two hours of driving to get back home, and I was glad to be there. Don’t get me wrong. I thoroughly enjoyed the weekend, and I’m glad I took the vacation. However, it’s always be back home in your own place after being gone for so long.
Going To Breckenridge!
I’m going to Breckenridge tomorrow for a long weekend with some friends. The trip has been planned for quite some time, but I didn’t think that I would be able to go until late Friday night. I was kind of bummed about not being able to go, and when Kiara told me to go, I was ecstatic. I can’t wait to spend a weekend with my friends doing nothing important. It’s going to be a good trip.
My friends went last year to the same cabin, and they came back with some great stories. I can’t wait to join them. From what I hear there will be lots of food, lots of beer, lots of liquor, lots of fun, and a hot tub. Not a bad combination, eh?
I’ll report back in next week when I get home to tell you how things went.
Trip To Hell
Here’s a strange dream that I had a while back. I use nicknames for my friends here on the blog to protect the guilty, but in the dream, I didn’t know my friends by their real names. I had a mental block that prevented me from knowing their real names, but I did know them by their aliases that they use. It was quite odd.
I was hanging out in a forest with Max Guevera. Yes, the character that was played by Jessica Alba in Dark Angel. I recognized her as Jessica Alba, but I knew her as Max. That struck me as odd, but there didn’t seem to be anything that I could do about it. I’m not sure why we were in a forest, or what we were doing there.
Seconds into the dream, a hot wind blew across the trees, and they started to wilt right away. The trees quickly died, and were uprooted by the wind. The wind didn’t seem to effect Max or myself, but the trees were gone within moments leaving behind a blast landscape of dried dirt. The land went from a lush forest to something that resembles the surface of a dried salt flat where they race cars at insane speeds.
Max looked at me with a very sad look on her face. She looked down at the ground, and said, “Here we go.” With that, the ground gave away into a huge crater that lead down further than I was able to see. Max jumped into the crater, and I followed her. We seemed to glide more than fall, but the distance that we went down was unmeasurable. I’m not sure how long we fell, but we passed many planes and cliff edges that revealed people being tortured. The tortures started out minor at first, but eventually became more and more graphic and grotesque.
We finally finished gliding/falling down, and landed in a bleak black and white landscape. We were in the middle of a wheat field, and there were demons all around us. There was a small building off to one side of the field. We quietly, but quickly, made our way through the wheat and into the building. The demons saw us just before we entered the house, but we were able to sprint inside before they reached us. We closed and barred the door, and that seemed to be able to keep the demons out.
We were presented with warped and twisted hallways that ran deeper into the house. Max looked at me, and said, “We need to split up. You go that way, and I’ll go this way. We need to find all of our friends, so that we can get out of here with them.”
I took off down my hallway. I came to a door, and I knew that a friend would be behind the door. I opened the door and found Kolvedic there. He was standing in a blue light, and seemed very sad. He looked up at me and said, “I can’t find Jhianna. If I can find her, I’ll be happy again.”
I assured him that we would find her, and we set out on our way.
I recall running through the twisted hallways with no particular plan of action other than to open every door that I came across. Each room was filled with a different colored light, and each light seemed to have a different effect on the person in the room. I don’t remember the exact combinations but there were blue, purple, pink, red, orange, yellow, green, and amber lights. The moods that they seemed to cause were depression, happiness, anger, rage, hopelessness, lust, laughter, boredom, and a few others that I don’t remember.
We finally found Jhianna in a room that was bathed in red light. As soon as I opened the door, Jhianna lunged at me in anger. I had done nothing to anger her, but I recognized the effect of the light. I backed away from her blocking her attacks, but not attacking back. I eventually got her out of the room where she could see Kolvedic. When she stepped out of the red light and saw Kolvedic, she immediately started crying in happiness. They hugged each other, and that was when I knew that I was free from my trip to Hell.
I gathered all of my friends, and told them to follow me. I began leading them through the house, but that’s as far as we got because the alarm went off. I really wanted to go back to sleep to figure out where we were going and how we were going to get there. I guess I’ll never know.
Sleep Patterns
Craing and I were talking the other day about the strangeness of sleep patterns. It all started when I told him that I needed 4 alarms to go off in the morning to wake me up. Even then, I still need Kiara to come kick me sometimes to get me out of bed. He told me about a patient that he had back when he worked on the psych unit that could not be woken up for anything, but he managed to find a way.
I told him that when I was a child I had a sleep study done to see when I slept the lightest. This was done so that I could setup an alarm clock to go off at that hour of the night to go to the bathroom. This way I could train myself to wake up at night and go to the bathroom rather than wet my bed. The sleep study that I went through for a week showed that I took a while to get to sleep, but once I was sleep, I went into a deep sleep and stayed there for pretty much the entire night. I would even go into REM sleep for almost a full hour several times a night.
Craing seems to think that the vividness and details in my dreams can be attributed to the fact that I sleep so deeply during the entire night. That very much could be the case. I don’t remember every dream that I have, but those that I do remember have tons of detail and color in them. Most mornings when I wake up, I remember the sensations of my dreams. There are times when I wished I could remember all of my dreams because I’m pretty sure that most of them are interesting.
Chewie’s Birthday
A friend of mine, Chewie, celebrated his 30th birthday Saturday night, so we had a party at his place. I showed up with a 6 pack of 1554 black ale, but I only touched two of them. We spent the night hanging out, playing foosball, watching weird videos that Fred had collected on the PC, and playing a horribly fun game called beer pong.
Chewie had an 8 foot table setup with wide-mouthed, eight ounce cups setup on each end. There were 8 cups on each end of the table. Six of them were about half full of beer, and arranged in a triangle shape. The other two held a shot of either tequila or Tattoo (spiced rum). We had two person teams at each end of the table. The point of the game was to throw ping pong balls into the six cups at the other end. If you made the ball into the cup, then one of the people on the other team had to drink. Once all of your opponents’ cups were empty, you were declared the winner, and had to take on the next set of challengers.
“What about the shots?” you ask. Those didn’t count towards winning the game, but if you made the ball into one of the cups with the shots, then the other team had to drink the shot that was in the glass.
Being a winner at this game isn’t as good as it sounds. Most people only won by a margin of a glass or two, which meant that as a winner, you had to down about a beer’s worth of alcohol. Since you were the winner, you had to take on the next set of challengers, which meant more drinking. I won a few rounds, and lost a few rounds. As the night grew longer, I started winning more. I’m one of those rare people that can keep my coordination when inebriated, so I started gaining an advantage as the night wore on.
The night ended for me around 2:30 in the morning when I finally crashed. The next morning sucked very hard, but more about that later….
Housewarming
We had a housewarming party yesterday, and we invited all of our friends to the house. It was a potluck setup, and plenty of great food was brought. I never did manage to get my hands on Kolvedic’s meatballs (heh. Yeah. I know how that sounds you sick bastards.), but I did manage to work my around the rest of the food before getting completely stuffed. The food was great, but I really enjoyed hanging out with my friends more than anything.
We got started around 3:30 when Kolvedic, Jhianna, and Jhianna’s parents arrived, and we didn’t knock off until around 10ish that night. We all had a good time watching the Broncos whip up on the Patriots, and it looks like the Bronco offense has finally woken up a bit.
I think my favorite part of the day was when we were all sitting around the tables chowing down on food. There were some great conversations, good comeraderie, and a general warmth that we all shared as we downed food and drink. The amount of friendship that was in the room was great, and I’m really blessed to have so many good friends.
Another highlight of the day was when our friends told Kiara and me to get together and come outside. We walked around the corner of our house where the garage doors are at, and there was a shiny new, stainless steel grill. It was a housewarming gift that many of our friends pitched in together and got for us. I’m sure they had been planning it for weeks, and I didn’t have a clue about what they were doing. I’m still in a bit of shock about the gift because it’s so fabulous. The grill has enough room to cook probably a dozen burgers, or half that number of large steaks. There’s also a griddle on the side that can be used for eggs, pancakes, or anything along those lines. I can’t wait to break it in and see what we can do with it.
I’m just happy that I’m blessed with such great friends in my life. It’s truly a wonderous thing!
Wedding
On Sunday, I went to a friend’s wedding. It was held at Farish Park, and it was an outdoor wedding. Fortunately, Mother Nature cooperated, and the weather was wonderful. The sun was warm, but there was a cool breeze offsetting the sun. It was a nice time all told. The preacher had us pray, the listen, then pray, then listen, then pray…. well… you get the idea. At least it wasn’t a Catholic wedding with lots of standing and sitting. We were able to keep our seats during the entire process.
The only odd thing about the wedding was the choice of Bible verse that the preacher used. It was something about a guy that came across three flocks of sheep around a covered well. He uncovered the well, and watered the sheep. While doing this, he found a woman that was his mother’s brother’s daughter, and they kissed, thus sealing their marriage. I thought cousins kissing only happened in the South. It was an odd choice of scripture for a wedding. Either that, or I completely missed the point. During the reception, we talked about the choice of scripture, and I wasn’t the only one confused by the choice. Maybe we all missed the point, but I doubt it.
The reception was quite a bit of fun. There were no assigned seats, which was good. This meant that we got a table with all of our close friends. We got to hang out, talk, and drink some decent wine while talking. It was a good time. During the conversation, someone broke out some honey mead that the groom had made two years prior to the wedding. I had some of it right after he made it two years ago, and it was so-so. However, after two years of aging, the mead was tasty, smooth, and pretty damn good. I enjoyed it a little too much. I did manage to sneak away with a bottle of it for later tasting. I’m looking forward to it.
The wedding was nice, and I hope that my friend and his new wed wife have many happy days together. I’m really surprised that he got married, so he must have found the woman that is just right for him. It should be a good relationship since my friend seems happier now with her in his life than he has ever been before.
Fear
I had a conversation a while back with Jhianna where she asked me if I was ever afraid of anything. I’m not sure how we got on the topic, but it wasn’t a question out of the blue. My response to her was, “I try not to be.” I’m sure there are plenty of things out there to fear, but I do my best not to let that fear overcome my senses and reflexes to the point where I won’t react to the danger or fearful object.
You see, when I was a child, I was afraid of everything. I was afraid of my mother (no longer the case, she’s a great woman now!), my father, my mom’s boyfriends, my dad’s friends, my mom’s friends, my parents’ lifestyle choices (lots of drugs and booze, but that’s in the past.) I spent most of my childhood trying to figure out how to not be noticed. I would hide in corners, behind couches, under beds. I would basically go everywhere with a book and a flashlight. I would find the darkest, most secluded spot that I could find, and I would use my flashlight to read my book. When I was discovered, people would ask, “What you doing back there, kid!?” I would hold up my book and meekly reply, “Just reading.” That seemed to satisfy their desire to make sure that I wasn’t up to no good.
I’ve had enough fear in my life to… well…. last a lifetime. No more. I’m much more confident in my adulthood than I ever was during my childhood. I’m not afraid to try new things, read new books, make new friends, or pick up new hobbies. I approach every situation with confidence, and I hope that it shows. I’ve always hopped from job-to-job (but I hope to stop doing that with my current job choice,) but I’ve never worried about where I’m going to get my next job. I know that I have skills that are wanted out there in the world, it’s just a matter of finding that person out there that wants to pay me to use my skills.
Jhianna quoted to me from another chat window of hers, “Beosig protects me from all.” I told her, yep, that’s me, “Beosig the Protector.” She asked if she minded me having such a title. I told her that I didn’t mind at all. I’m here for my friends, and if that means protecting them from the dangers of the world, then I’m there for them. When I’m out with a crowd of people, I’m always on the lookout for their safety. Since I’m part of the group, I also look out for my safety as well because if something happened to me, who would protect everyone else?
When it comes to physical confrontations, I’m secure enough in my abilities to get out of a fight in better shape then my adversary. The only exception to this is if someone has a gun. A gun is a hugely unfair advantage in a fight, and I’ll always back away from a gun. Barring a firearm, I’ll stand up to anyone. They can have a knife, stick, baseball bat, sword, club, or just about any other weapon, and I’ll take them on if it comes down to it.
One of the more interesting (and fun!) times that I had as a protector was at an SCA event back in Andrews, TX. It was the end of the event, and we all wanted some hot pizza. We hit the only local pizza place, and pretty much took over the joint. There was a booth or two with families, a booth with some cowboys, and then the rest of us in the pizza place.
The booth of cowboys kept harassing the waitress in inappropriate ways. They were grabbing her ass, reaching for her breasts, and talking rude to her. I got tired of this, and pulled her aside to ask if she needed any help with the cowboys. Her response was, “Don’t worry. They’re always this way.” I told her that just because it was a habit, that it wasn’t acceptable behavior, and that if she wanted help making them back down, all she had to do was call out “Champion!” loudly, and we’d help out.
About 20 minutes later, she had enough of the cowboys, and decided to call for help. She stepped away from the table, and called out in a loud and clear voice, “Champion!” Heh. What happened next was great. Every SCA fighter (about 20 guys), and half the women (about 10 of them) instantly dropped what they were doing, stopped talking, put down their pizza, and stood up. We all looked her way, but it was the looks on the cowboys’ faces that was the best. They realized that they had just crossed a line, and there was no going back.
The baron that lead the SCA event asked everyone to please sit down, and he went over to talk to the cowboys. We were all very quiet so that we could hear his words. He quietly told the young men that respect towards women was paramount to their honor, and that if they had one ounce of respect for themselves, then they would respect others as well. If respect wasn’t instantly shown towards everyone in the restaurant, then there would be a price to pay. The baron sat down, and a few moments later, one of the cowboys headed to the waitress, and apologized to her for their actions. He said that it would never happen again.
It was a good time, and a good lesson learned by the young men in the restaurant. To this day, I keep an ear open for a lady in need of assistance, and when I hear the call, I always answer without hesitation.
Bomb Scare
About 10 years ago I was living in San Antonio. I worked for an ISP, and the offices were in downtown San Antonio. There were all sorts of fancy hotels, office buildings, a bus stop, and plenty of homeless people around. One night two of my coworkers were moving in together. They needed my help getting them moved in, so they stopped by the office to pick me up. This was, of course, after the Olkahoma City bombing that Timothy McVeigh did.
When they showed up, they were driving a U-Haul truck to move their stuff in. They parked it across the street in a public parking lot, came in to get me, hung out for a minute or five, and then thre three of us left to move their stuff. What we didn’t know was that President Clinton was giving a speech at a fund raiser across the street from our office.
Picture this: Secret Service all over the place. Two guys drive up in a U-Haul (like the one that McVeigh used), and they get out and walk away into the night. Yeah… The Secret Service went nuts over the truck.
When we got to the truck, we were met by dozens of agents. They were waiting for a bolt cutter to cut the lock off of the truck to see what was inside. My friend that had the key surrendered the key, so that they could get the truck open. While they were doing this, they separated the three of us, and started interrogating us. They were very polite, but they were also very firm. They didn’t abuse us, insult us, or harrass us too much. However, they did want their questions answered without any joking around.
We answered their questions to their satisfaction. Most of my answers were, “I don’t know.” They wanted to know my friends’ old addresses (never been there), their new address (hadn’t been there yet), how long they had known each other, how long I had known them, what were their names (which I did know), and so on.
