Lunch With The Wife
My wife and I work about 60 miles from our home, but only about 5 miles apart from each other. Our schedules conflict, so we don’t carpool to and from work, but we do manage to get together for lunch on occasion. We went to a fairly good BBQ spot that was founded in Florida, and then franchised out across the south, and some to the north. There were four types of BBQ sauce available. I had the chicken strips, and tried all but the very spicy sauce. I enjoy eating spicy food, but the rest my body rebels when I put too much spice into it, so I avoided the really spicy stuff. The three that I tried were tasty, but the “sweet and tangy” sauce had the consistency of snot, so I passed on that after a taste of it. The red sauce and original sauce were pretty good, but I finally settled on the original sauce for dipping my chicken strips into.
The waiter that tended our table was very good. Our drinks never got below half empty before a refill showed up, the food came in a quick manner, and we were given the check without having to wait too long. Normally, I don’t mind waiting for the check, but we were both on our lunch hour. This meant that we needed to dine and get out of there in a rapid manner. Even though we waited a bit for the check, I still tipped the waiter 30%. He earned it.
I’ve always been a decent tipper, but ever since Craing hooked me on Waiter Rant I’ve been especially generous. However, if a waiter (or waitress) is doing a horrible job, their tip goes down from what I would have given them at the start of the meal.
